Classy Casual

When you compare elegant pieces with casual, it can dress down an outfit but still be extremely classy. Classy casual. My dad’s birthday was this weekend and he had a barbecue at the house with most of our family. I wanted to dress casual but with a little somethin’ somethin.’ Off-the-shoulder tops always look so classy and elegant, so I decided to pair it with high waisted jean shorts with leopard boyshorts to make it more casual. I wore my Tims again because it contrasted well with the top more than sandals would.

My sister came down from San Jose again, and she wore a cute flowery summer skater dress, which was also perfect for a weekend barbecue. She brought her dog, Bear, who has gotten so much bigger than the last time I saw him. He’s only 6 months but almost as tall as us when he stands on his hind legs. He’s so adorable!

Before the family came, we got everything ready and I had my dad open our gift to him. He loved it! Seeing how excited he was with the smile on his face made me so happy. Once the family came, my dad barbecued some chicken and meat, put some corn on the grille, and we had potato salad and macaroni salad on the side. It was delicious!

After everyone ate, we all mingled and talked for awhile and let our stomachs settle down so we could eat some dessert later. I was happy to see my Grandma and see how she was doing. She’s a strong woman and I admire her for trying to stay strong after my Grandpa passed a couple months ago. We all miss him a lot.

Soon enough it was cake time! We sang happy birthday to my daddy and he blew out the sparkler candles my sister got him. She got him burnt almond cake, and there was also a freshly baked apple pie, a strawberry cream pie, and some ice cream to choose from. Everything was very good!

Afterwards, we took pictures with the family and everyone began to depart. It was a successful, fun day and my dad had a great time.

That night, we watched the new episode of “POWER” on Starz. That show is absolutely amazing! It’s so interesting and keeps you wanting to watch more. Season 2 started this month and its great! My sister had never watched it before, and she even liked it starting from episode 4 after we filled her in a little on the characters.

I hung out with my sister after, and its always a good time when she’s around. I miss having her around since she doesn’t live that close anymore. She’s so funny! We all had a long day and called it a night pretty early, around 11. It was a great time with family, and you should always cherish the time you have with them.
