Tarte’s BB Cream:
Whenever I visit my moms house I like to go through her vanity to see the current makeup products she is using. During a recent visit she introduced to me to Tarte’s BB Tinted Treatment 12 Hour Primer. It has SPF 30, a tint, and claims to be 12 hour wear. It states to be very good for your skin and have multiple skincare benefits.
Having previous experience with Too Faced Beauty Balm making me look like an oily mess all day, I was iffy on trying a new BB cream, but decided to take my moms advice (moms are always right!). She was color “medium” and I thought it would be too dark for me, but it matched more than I would have thought.
Application:
For application I used the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion sponge, and it was amazing. It was easy to blend, buildable coverage, felt light on my skin, no scent, and evened out my skin tone completely. It basically covered almost like a foundation but with a lighter feel. It had a beautiful matte finish but didn’t make me look flat. I applied concealer underneath my eyes and a touch of Bare Minerals Mineral Veil to set it.
Lasting Power:
It lasted beautifully throughout the day, so I went out to purchase my own a few days later. I wear this BB cream every day to work because it doesn’t make my face feel heavy like foundation. I don’t believe it will last 12 hours for everyone though. For me personally, it lasts all day but around the 7th hour it may start to break up if the day was really hot and I had been sweating. I have worked out wearing it and it stays on, but if you look closely you can see it breaking up a little on where you had put concealer. I have never found anything that can look perfect after a whole 8 hour day anyway. It does say on the box to reapply every 2 hours because of the SPF, which I don’t do and it still pretty much lasts all day. This BB also does not break me out at all, which is a major plus!
It Cosmetics BB Cream:
After I finished that tube after almost 3 months, I wanted to try a different BB cream. I decided to take a trip to Ulta and swatch different BB creams. I was very close to purchasing the Bare Minerals BB, but stumbled across the IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream with SPF 50.
The reviews were pretty amazing and I wanted to try it out. It’s almost $40, which is very pricey, and I didn’t know if I would even like it. When I got in line to pay, I started looking at the little minis they have on the shelves while you wait. I saw the IT Cosmetics CC in a travel size for $15. I immediately put down my full size and got the travel size so I can try it out first. And I’m SO glad I did.
Application And Lasting Power:
During my first application of the CC, I noticed it smelled like some kind of paint or chemicals. It applied smoothly and gave good coverage, but it has a dewy finish. Which I hate. Personally, I feel dewy or luminous finishes make me look shiny and greasy, which I hate to be. It also doesn’t last me all day at ALL. It starts to break up within the 4th or 5th hour for me and starts to look gross. I tried wearing this a few times and I just don’t like it. The ingredients are pretty gross too. It has a bunch of toxic oils and Snail Secretion Filtrate (snail slime?) How nasty!
Overall Thoughts:
I know the IT Cosmetics CC has great reviews, and it does apply beautifully, but for me personally I don’t like the finish and that it doesn’t last longer like my Tarte BB. I went back to purchase a new tube of the Tarte, but this time in the color ‘Light’ which matched me perfectly. I guess I will be sticking to this amazing Tarte BB cream and I highly recommend it if you like a more matte finish with full coverage! Have you tried these? Let me know your thoughts!
