With the Too Faced original Chocolate Bar Palette being my favorite and holy grail eyeshadow palette of all time, you know I almost died when I saw them coming out with the Chocolate CHIP palette. This Matte Chocolate Chip palette is the Chocolate Bar in miniature size! It is the perfect travel size, so now you don’t need to take your entire Chocolate Bar palette with you on the road! The Chocolate Chip palette features 11 shades from the original Chocolate Bar, but with the shimmer shades transformed all into mattes (The names beginning with ‘Matte’ are shimmery colors in the original Chocolate Bar).

I think this palette is so creative and adorable, and I’m glad I can take this to travel with! This palette was released on Black Friday at 12am up on the Too Faced website. I was up on the website on the dot, but after about 30 minutes of the site glitching I was finally able to purchase it. Surprisingly it got delivered that Monday, in two days, of course in the cutest box!

PACKAGING:

 

The packaging is very cute, of course in the signature chocolate bar design. For $26, it was expected that this palette would be smaller and more cheaply made than other smaller Too Faced palettes. This palette is a matte plastic, not tin/metal like their other palettes. It also doesn’t have a magnetic closure, it’s a snap closure.

The font in the front isn’t clearly written with details like on the original palette, probably because this is smaller and details wouldn’t pertain to this. The names of the shades are also not printed underneath each pan (kind of like the first few versions of the original Chocolate Bar), but instead it contains a sticker on the back of the palette with the names.

 

SIZE:

The size of the palette was smaller than expected, but its definitely cute and compact! It’s very very lightweight and about half the size in width of the original. Also like I stated, it’s a matte plastic finish, not a glossy tin/metal material like the original.

With other small sized Too Faced Palette’s being $36, (like this Peanut Butter and Jelly palette), you should expect the Chocolate Chip palette at $26 to have smaller pans and just smaller overall. To be honest, $26 does seem a little pricey because it is only $10 cheaper than the other smaller Too Faced palettes that have magnetic closure, metal packaging, and bigger pans.

It also basically fits in the palm of my hand, and my hand is small!! The whole shape is the size of an iPhone 6 screen. Don’t get me wrong, it’s super cute and I’m actually loving it so far!

 

COLORS/SWATCHES:

Of course I love the colors in this palette, since they are basically all the same as the original Chocolate Bar, except now completely matte. Right when I open the palette it smells strongly of chocolate which smells absolutely delicious!!!

The colors applied nice and buttery, and blended nicely, just as I expected. The only con is that most of the light colored shades are very sheer, as you can see in my swatches. These swatches were applied lightly (ahem, I don’t like pressing my fingers in my new palettes…) but for the light colors I did try and go over them multiple times but they are still very sheer! As you can see (or not, lol) the first and last colors, White Chocolate and Matte Champagne Truffle, are hardly noticeable on my skin tone.

The other colors (especially my faves Semi-Sweet and Triple Fudge) are pretty much like the original Chocolate Bar – they aren’t patchy, no fallout, blendable, and last all day! All in all, I’m extremely happy and excited about this palette. I love miniature sized products, and to have a mini Chocolate Bar is just genius!

LAST THOUGHTS:

The Matte Chocolate Chip palette is currently sold out, but will be returning on the Too Faced website on December 14.

Too Faced also released a WHITE CHOCOLATE CHIP palette, which contains a lot of pastels, nudes, mattes, and shimmers as well. That palette was only available on the Sephora website for Cyber Monday, which I purchased the day before because VIB ROUGE had first access to it. It’s sold out now but should be coming back soon. I will be receiving that palette tomorrow, but I purchased it as a gift. I’m more into the matte brown eyeshadow, so I don’t believe the White Chocolate Chip palette would work for me, although it’s so cute and to die for as well!

 

Overall, I recommend this palette if you’re a huge fan of the Chocolate Bar palette and use that to travel with. If you’re not into the Chocolate Bar colors that much, then this palette would be kind of useless, but since the Chocolate Bar has some of my favorite colors ever in it, then the Chocolate Chip palette works perfect! LOVE IT!!!! <3
