“I may be an outfit repeater, but you’re an outfit rememberer!” as one of our favorite childhood characters, Lizzie McGuire, once said. It can be easy to feel somewhat ashamed finding yourself repeating the same outfits, and especially as a style blogger or influencer it may feel that way even more. What has this world come to, where repeating outfits isn’t ‘cool’ to do on social media like Instagram and blogs? Honestly, I can’t lie and say I haven’t felt that way before, but when it comes down to it: there is nothing wrong with outfit repeating. It’s perfectly normal and nothing to be ashamed about.
Clothing is made to be worn repeatedly – for years even. How can you justify spending $50 on a dress or top and wearing it ONE TIME?! It just does not make sense. One can be all about budgeting but then wear a piece like that once? “If you don’t love it enough to wear it more than once, reconsider your purchase” is what I’ve heard several times. We re-wear our shoes, bags, hats, jeans, and accessories. Because that is what they are for. Clothing is not disposable. By thrifting and re-using we are actually saving more textile from being wasted in landfills. Recycle! Re-Use! It’s OK! Help the planet!
I’ve come to realize that when you have a cute piece, you want to wear it often, especially if it’s comfortable. And there’s nothing wrong with that! Don’t forget you can always style it with different layers and accessories to make it look like a completely new outfit. You are still stylish, cool, and also helping the planet. So be proud of yourself. Show off that incredible outfit. Be creative!
I’ve repeated several outfits and pieces here on my own style blog too (as you may have noticed). I wear a lot of the same items because I’m not constantly purchasing new clothes. I gotta work with what I have, girl! And you should too! Don’t fall into the pressure of social media and what others are doing. Live realistically, not what people put out on their profiles. They probably be repeating their outfits several times in real life but just not posting them to their social media. 🤷🏻♀️ It still makes them an outfit repeater and there is nothing wrong with that. So work it, girls!
So here I am being an outfit repeater style blogger, and proud of it! Here are some pieces that I’ve worn several times on the blog (with links to similar items):
This is one of my favorite white crop tops. I just love the gold plate in the center with the thick straps. I haven’t found another like it and love that you can dress it up or down. On the left I’m wearing it with jeans and an adidas jacket, super casual but cute. On the right I’m wearing it with high waisted shorts and thigh high boots. Complete different looks that are cute in their own way!
I love this white button down top. It’s comfortable but not too simple for a normal white tee. On the left I wear it out hiking with some adidas sweats, sneakers, and backpack. In the middle photo I dressed it up with a faux fur coat, jeans, and heels. And on the right I changed it up a bit and wore it off the shoulder tucked into a skirt!
One of my favorite dresses! I love the vintage look and style of this dress. On the left I styled with heels and a crossbody bag. On the right I paired it with ballerina flats and a hand held bag! Just small accessory changes can make a huge difference.
Glam up just a regular graphic tee! On the left I’m just wearing it with a regular Juicy velour hoodie, but on the right with a faux fur jacket for a completely different look.
You know I love my oversized sweaters! Make it classy with thigh high boots and a crossbody bag, while on the right is casual with leggings and some Converse.
Love these white shorts! Super comfy and cute. I basically just changed the tops for these shorts but it’s still a cute and different look!
My favorite pink skirt of all time. Wore this tons of times on the blog! You can mix and match it with so many different pieces. I wore it with a cardigan and ballerina flats, with a tank top and skinny belt, and also with thigh high boots and a faux fur coat.
Pairing a nice lace top can have a whole new look as well. On the left I wore it with leggings and sandals, and on the right for a more casual look with jeans!
I love button up long sleeves and the acid wash design. On the left I wore it with leggings and sandals and on the right I paired it with matching acid wash jeans for a cool look.
Shortalls! Love wearing these for the summer. On the left with a tank and flip flops, and on the right with a crop tee and sneakers for the amusement park!
These jeans are very memorable, with deep holes cut out. But jeans are jeans! On the left I paired it with an oversized t-shirt tied as a crop top and Converse, and on the right with a lace up cropped tank and sandals.
I hope you guys enjoyed this post! Have confidence in what you wear. Spend it and wear it wisely 😉.
