After one of our many recent trips to Lake Tahoe, we stopped at the Bonsai Rock on our way to Reno. Located on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe, it’s about 6 miles south from Incline Village and about a mile south from Sand Harbor Beach on Route 28. Let me tell you, this is a must see stop! Absolutely beautiful pristine water, eye catching views, and the surroundings of beautiful nature at the Bonsai Rock is a necessary sight to see. If you’re thinking about stopping, do it!
It’s a short hike to get to the Bonsai Rock, much quicker than I thought it would be. I still highly recommend wearing shoes while you hike there and back – it’s pretty steep with a few rocks and bushes to maneuver through. I wear my Adidas Terrex hiking shoes anytime I’m in nature – they have the best grip for these steep hikes!
There are a few different areas to chill and capture some cool shots of the Bonsai Rock and surroundings. Fortunately when we went there weren’t many people, and nobody in the spot we were at. They have a small sand area like the beach where you can hang out as well. Plenty of large rocks to chill on and swim or kayak to.
Weather was perfect in spring – not too hot and not too cold. It was extremely peaceful and beautiful! Just look at these views!! It was an amazing opportunity to stop here and soak all this in. Definitely one of my favorite places to see.
We were literally here for about 5 hours! Yes, 5 hours that felt like 2 hours. That’s how amazing it was – so refreshing, clean, and fun to hang out at. Aaron took some amazing shots and little Aaron had fun climbing all the rocks! It’s such a beautiful view – we could have stayed longer but we needed to head out to Reno so we could eat and check into the hotel.
This was a really great day exploring the Bonsai Rock and capturing some good content. Definitely a photographers dream! We were here in broad daylight and I’m surprised at how much I love these photos – not many shadows on my face or anything. Just an amazing place is all I can say!
Hope you guys enjoyed this post. Thank you to Aaron B. for capturing these amazing photos 😍 He’s available to hire for photography or videography in the Bay Area and surroundings if anyone is interested!
