Casual post time! I actually found this cute vintage pink Adidas jacket on Poshmark a few years ago. You may have seen it in previous blog posts – I’ve worn it quite a lot! It’s such an amazing and durable jacket, and also can’t be purchased new anywhere anymore. There are similar ones but not quite the same!

 

 

The best part about buying vintage/thrifting is:

 

• Saving Money – You can get great deals on secondhand clothing that basically look new! It’s honestly the best way to shop – quality but for a low price.
• Unique Clothing – Like this Adidas jacket, you can find unique or discontinued pieces that nobody can buy new anymore! It’s great to wear something not a lot of people are wearing.
• Great for Environment – Fashion is one of the top polluting industries. The more we re-use and shop vintage is actually helping the environment. Just like recycling! I actually have an article about this here.

 

 

So now that you know the pros, how exactly do you find the best vintage clothing? Here are some of my faves for clothing specifically:

 

• Resale Apps: Poshmark (use codeMICALAV if you sign up for a new account to get $10 off!), Mercari, and Instagram are the apps I’ve had the most success with in finding cool pieces. I’ve found a vintage belt off an Instagram profile, several Adidas jackets on Poshmark, and Mercari has great vintage pieces as well.
• Resale Websites: thredUp is the largest online thrift store, and swap.com is a good one too.
• Local Consignment/Thrift Stores: These are the best! My local consignment store has amazing name brand pieces for super cheap. Basically brand new too. If you’re not ready go shop in store, check that specific stores Instagram because some of them are selling on there too!

 

If buying online, make sure you see clear photos of what you are buying, and make sure the seller answers any questions you may have. Always take a look at their reviews and online history as well. Other than that, have fun shopping!
