The early 2000’s is calling our names – because it’s back! Although some of the Y2K style won’t fly in 2021, we’ve still brought it back in a more modern way.
Here’s a quick blog post on how to wear the Y2K style now, without looking like you literally came from 2003.
- Mini Bags – these have made a comeback, and they’re not going anywhere! Mini bags will always be classic, and even considered an investment bag if you find a good vintage one that increases in value yearly – like this Louis Vuitton Murakami Multicolor Pochette. It’s already doubled the amount I originally paid for it in less than a year!
- White Pants – Y2K is all about fun and bold colors. White pants definitely count as bold! They will also be around forever, and is a classic staple you need in your wardrobe. Flared out bottoms are not even just a trend, but are also flattering – it can make you appear taller and also balance the top half of your body if needed.
- Juicy Couture – Juicy is back everyone! A lot of vintage Juicy pieces have increased in value, and Forever 21 recently did a collab with them. This one shoulder top was from the Forever Juicy collection, which sold out rather quickly. They do have some swimsuits and several plus-size pieces available still (and in this top here)! If you pair a simple but fun Juicy top (or velour jacket) with simple pieces like white pants and a mini bag, you’re Y2K style is perfect (and not over the top)!
- Fun Jewelry – Back in the early 2000’s we would go overboard with the jewelry. We can still do that today – but with the right type of jewelry that won’t make it look excessive! Pura Vida Bracelets are one of my favorite brands for everyday jewelry. Not only do I love what they stand for (Giving back to charity, helping artisans with employment with every purchase, helping then planet, etc.), I love the quality of their jewelry. Their bracelets are waterproof and can be worn 24/7, and the rings are so cute it’s hard not to stack them. You can also get 20% off by clicking here to shop.
It was fun to play the part and use the infamous Downtown LA pink room studio for these shots! Total Y2K vibes!
